Hello, I'm Tara Gaynor-Jampolsky.
I take immense pride in educating and assisting seniors, behavioral health patients and people with disabilities on the importance and benefits of Recreation Therapy and Geri Fit to enhance the quality of one’s life. Our senior population is living longer and deserve continued enjoyment of life through specialized programs whether it is to rebuild with meaning and purpose or to grow independence for continued enjoyment with family and friends. I am here to walk the path with you and guide you through the wonderful journey of life experiencing meaningful Therapeutic Recreation Activities and Geri-Fit exercises.
My Story
I learned the art of listening and understanding, not everyone walks the same path, learns in the same manner and pace, or has the same needs, consequently, each plan should be structured specifically to the individual for maximum benefit.
It is important as well to recognize cultural differences as this plays a role in understanding a person’s background and what is important to them to light the spark. I gained this knowledge throughout my career which included working in Canada, Israel and United States. These countries are a melting pot of amazing culture, which afforded me the opportunity to work with many wonderful, interesting seniors gaining invaluable experience.
I was fortunate to be chosen as a volunteer to staff multiple Birthright Israel programs abroad further enhancing my personal history and culture related to working with Seniors, additionally enrolling in an accredited program in Israel facilitating in a Therapeutic Recreation Program. This was a life changing, firsthand experience as my participation allowed me to develop the skills and tools to effectively assist a client/patient on their journey to either recovery or a path to live a healthier, balanced life. Towards the end of my studies, I accepted an internship at The Veterans Hospital in Phoenix gaining firsthand experience in creating professional assessments, implementing treatment plans, and creating and overseeing group activities.
My professional dream to help others succeed to the best of their ability was realized when I graduated from ASU in 2007 (Arizona State University) with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Through continued education I am also CTRS (Certified Recreation Therapist), Certified Geri-Fit Instructor, First Aid, and CPR.
